1. What Parcelane is and what it is for
Parcelane (the "Platform", "we") is an online notice board that helps two kinds of people find each other:
- senders — people who need to hand an item over to someone traveling to another city or country;
- travelers — people already making that trip who are willing to take the item along for a reward or for free.
The Platform exists for one purpose: to connect people who want to help each other deliver lawful items in a lawful way. Any other use — moving prohibited goods, smuggling, fraud, evading customs, using someone as an unwitting carrier — is a breach of these Terms and, in most countries, a crime. We actively fight such use (see section 9).
2. Who we are not
The Platform is an intermediary only. We are not:
- a carrier, courier service, freight forwarder or postal operator;
- a customs broker or a declarant;
- a party to any agreement between a sender and a traveler;
- a custodian, insurer or guarantor of any item;
- an employer or agent of any user.
Any arrangement about a delivery — reward, timing, meeting place, handover, packaging — is made directly between the sender and the traveler, at their own risk. We do not inspect items, do not take possession of them and are not present at handover.
3. Who can use the Platform
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into agreements.
- One person — one account, with accurate and current information. Accounts cannot be transferred or shared.
- You may not use the Platform if we have blocked your account, or on behalf of a blocked person.
- You are responsible for everything done under your account. Keep your credentials safe and tell us at once if you suspect unauthorized access.
By registering you accept these Terms, the Prohibited and Restricted Items list, the Privacy Policy and the Cookies policy.
4. Sender's responsibilities
- You are fully responsible for the contents of your parcel and for its lawfulness in the countries of departure, transit and destination.
- Describe the contents truthfully, including quantity and approximate value, and attach real photos of the actual item.
- Do not hand over anything from the Prohibited and Restricted Items list. Restricted items may be handed over only with the documents and within the limits described there.
- Show the contents to the traveler before handover, and let the traveler inspect the item without sealed packaging. A sender who refuses inspection may not use the Platform.
- Do not ask the traveler to lie to customs, undervalue the item, hide it or declare it as their own property when it is not.
- You are responsible for correct packaging and for any damage caused by the contents (leaks, breakage, odor).
5. Traveler's responsibilities
- Personally inspect the contents of every parcel before accepting it. Never accept sealed packages, bags or boxes you have not seen inside. This is a condition of using the Platform, not a recommendation.
- You are personally responsible for what you carry across borders: customs declarations, duties, prohibited-items rules of every country on your route, and any legal consequences. "I did not know what was inside" is not a defense under most customs laws.
- Refuse any item you are not comfortable with, that you cannot verify, or that appears on the prohibited list. Cancel the offer and report it through the "Report" button.
- Carry the item yourself. Do not pass it to third parties and do not add anything to the parcel.
- Meet in public places, verify the other party's identity and account, and keep communication on the Platform.
Before every handover, go through the traveler checklist in the Prohibited and Restricted Items document.
6. Rewards and payments
Any reward is agreed directly between the sender and the traveler. The Platform does not process payments between users, does not hold funds and is not responsible for a party's failure to pay or deliver. If we introduce payment services in the future, they will be governed by separate terms.
7. Prohibited use of the Platform
You may not:
- arrange or attempt to arrange transport of anything from the prohibited list, or of restricted items without the required documents;
- post false, misleading or incomplete information about yourself, an item or a trip;
- use another person's identity or documents, or create multiple accounts;
- use the Platform to launder money, evade taxes or customs duties, or move stolen or counterfeit goods;
- harass, threaten, insult or defraud other users, or move communication off-platform to avoid moderation;
- collect other users' data, scrape the Platform, or interfere with its operation;
- post content that is illegal, extremist, pornographic, promotes drugs or violence, or infringes others' rights.
8. Reports and how we handle them
Every request, trip, profile and chat has a "Report" button. You can also write to [email protected].
Report immediately if you see
- a request to carry something from the prohibited list or a hidden, sealed or suspicious item;
- a refusal to show the contents, pressure to skip inspection or to "not declare";
- fraud, requests for prepayment outside the Platform, fake documents or identity;
- threats, harassment or attempts to get your personal data.
How we handle reports
- Reports involving a possible prohibited item, a threat to safety or fraud are reviewed within 24 hours; the related request or trip may be hidden immediately, before the review is finished.
- Other reports are reviewed within 7 days.
- We may ask both parties for details. Outcomes: no action, content removed, warning, temporary or permanent block. We inform the reporter that the review is complete but may not disclose details about another user.
- We keep the report and the related data for as long as required for security and legal purposes (see the Privacy Policy).
9. How we fight unlawful use
- We moderate requests, trips, photos and messages, including with automated tools and AI-based classification. Suspicious content is held for manual review before it is published.
- We may hide content, cancel offers and block accounts without prior warning where we suspect an attempt to move prohibited items, fraud or the use of someone as an unwitting carrier. We are not obliged to explain a moderation decision.
- We cooperate with law-enforcement and customs authorities and disclose data on a lawful request.
- We remind users about inspection and prohibited items at every step: when creating a request, when accepting an offer and before handover.
None of this makes us responsible for the items users exchange. The obligation to inspect and to comply with the law stays with the sender and the traveler.
10. No guarantees and limitation of liability
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we do not guarantee that a delivery will happen, will be on time, or that an item will arrive intact;
- we do not guarantee the accuracy of information provided by users or the behavior of any user, on or off the Platform;
- we are not liable for loss, damage, delay, confiscation, customs duties, fines or any other consequences of a delivery or an attempt to arrange one;
- we are not liable for indirect losses, lost profit or moral damage;
- where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months (currently — nothing, the Platform is free) or 100 euro.
You agree to indemnify us against claims of third parties, including authorities, arising from your use of the Platform in breach of these Terms.
11. Disputes
Disputes between users about a delivery are resolved between the users themselves; we may help with information about an offer but do not arbitrate.
A dispute with us starts with a written claim to [email protected] describing the issue. We reply within 30 days. If the dispute is not resolved, it goes to a competent court at the place of our registration, unless mandatory consumer law gives you another forum.
12. Intellectual property and content
The Platform, its design, texts and software belong to us. Content you post (descriptions, photos, messages) remains yours; you grant us a non-exclusive license to display and process it for the operation and moderation of the Platform. You must have the right to everything you post.
13. Personal data
How we collect and use personal data is described in the Privacy Policy; cookies — in the Cookies policy. Both are part of these Terms.
14. Blocking and termination
We may block an account or restrict features at our sole discretion for a breach of these Terms, suspected unlawful use, or a lawful request of an authority. You may stop using the Platform and delete your account at any time; data related to reports, offers and legal obligations may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms. The current version and its date are shown at the top of this page. For material changes we ask you to accept the new version at your next sign-in; until you do, the Platform is available in read-only mode. Continued use after acceptance means you agree to the new Terms.
